Andy Ticer and Michael Hudman are making Memphis proud. They have recently gotten a lot of attention for their restaurant Hog and Hominy and now they are receiving attention for their other restaurant Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen. The two have been nominated by Food and Wine magazine for the People’s Best New Chef award. This honors chefs who for five years or less have been running their own kitchens. MEMPHIS IS CHARMING!!!
Travel and Leisure posted a list of America's most charming accents and listed the top 20 cities and Memphis came in towards the top of list at number 6. They said we have "local southern accents that take on a grittier quality—a mix of city and country". CLICK HERE for the full list!

MUDBUG FESTIVAL!!!
This weekend is Mudbugs in March. It is a crawfish festival taking place downtown in court square this Saturday. There will be live music, a gumbo cooking contest and tons of mudbugs. To learn more, CLICK HERE!!!

SPRING CHALK ART!!!
The Brooks Art Museum is celebrating spring with a chalk festival this Thursday. Local artists will create art with chalk on the plaza outside of the museum and you can join in and make chalk art too! The event is free and starts at 10am. To learn more, CLICK HERE!

GOOGLE SHOES!!!
South by Southwest began this past weekend and one of the weirdest things unveiled was a talking shoe by Google. The shoes contain a computer that tracks your movement and if you have been sitting still for too long....the shoes can yell to motivate you to move. CLICK HERE to learn more!

Local boy Justin Timberlake joined the rare five timers club as SNL host this past weekend and wow'ed audiences. He brought back fan favorite skits and tons of new stuff as well. He even rep'ed Memphis when he took the stage at the end of the episode in a U of M Tiger tshirt. CLICK HERE for more info!

MAJOR ROAD SCHEDULED TO CLOSE!!!
You might need to map out some alternate routes because this Friday the intersection of Brooks Road and Elvis Presley Boulevard will be shut down until Monday. This is part of an aggressive $43 Million project to improve the boulevard to be safer. The construction will ultimately go for about 2.75 miles from Brooks South all the way down to Shelby Drive by the time that it is complete. For more info and alternate routes, CLICK RIGHT HERE!

SPRING VOLUNTEER BUILD BEGAN THIS PAST WEEKEND!
Dozens of volunteers began production on three homes for habitat for humanity's "Spring Volunteer Build" over the weekend. The agency just celebrated 30 years of building homes here in Memphis and these three homes are the first of fifty that Habitat for Humanity plans to build in North Memphis over the next two years.
