NEW CLUB OPENING ON BEALE STREET!!!

It was announced that a new club will be opening on Beale Street starting May 1st. It is the Jerry Lee Lewis Cafe and Honky Tonk. It will be where the old Pat O'Brien's was and will contain memorabilia of the rock legend, live music and all southern cooking. For more details, CLICK HERE!

THIS WEEK IS "HOOPS FOR ST JUDE WEEK!"

This week is The Memphis Grizzlies "Hoops for St. Jude week." It is a campaign that the NBA is doing to raise awareness and funds for the hospital. It will include visiting the children today and Wednesday the Grizzlies will wear pins as they take on the Mavericks and play in honor of the hospital. Patients and their families will receive special recognition during the game and donations will be accepted for St Judes. CLICK HERE for more details!

THE KROC CENTER OPENED!!!

The Kroc center opened for the first time this past Saturday. The $85 million community center was funded in 2004 by Joan Kroc for it to be a place of recreation, education, worship and arts. Today the Kroc center will begin their normal hours of operation. CLICK HERE to learn more!

LOCAL MUSIC VENUE TO HAVE LAST SHOW THIS WEEKEND!

After more than 15 years on the music scene, Saturday night will be the last show at Hi Tone Cafe. The owner sites the reasons for closing as rising booking costs, lowered attendance and structural issues with the building. The Hi Tone will go out in style with local acts playing into the wee hours of the morning. CLICK HERE to learn more!

Eric Friedl and the rest of his band the Oblivians will help music fans close out the Hi-Tone Cafe, the Midtown venue that anchored the Memphis music scene for more than 15 years. The Barbaras and DJ Matty also are scheduled to perform.

KELLOGS RECALL!!!

Special K is doing a voluntary recall of their red berries cereal because the boxes might be contaminated with particles of glass. Kellogs issued a formal statement saying, “All of our processes will be thoroughly reviewed and appropriate actions will be taken to help prevent this situation from happening in the future,”.For specific details on which boxes are being recalled, CLICK HERE!

Our very own Hog and Hominy has been recieving a great deal of attention. They are in this month's GQ as a top restaurant in the nation and they are now up for the very prestigious James Beard award for best new restaurant in the United States.
