3rd suspect arrested in Ark. store clerk's slaying

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Police say a third man wanted in the shooting death of a North Little Rock convenience store clerk is now in custody.

Sgt. Brian Dedrick says 20-year-old Maclin Rogers of Jacksonville surrendered to police in Jacksonville shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday. Police on Friday arrested 20-year-old Jacobi Robinson in Jacksonville and 19-year-old Davio Howard in Texarkana.

The three were arrested on capital murder warrants in the Sept. 22 shooting death of Akiya Egeston during an attempted robbery at the convenience store. Police say Egeston was unable to open the register and the three robbers left empty-handed - but one returned moments later and shot her.

Robinson told reporters that he "didn't mean to kill that lady." When asked why he shot her - Robinson said "no reason."
