GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - A 40-year-old Gulfport man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for setting up a hidden motion-activated camera in restrooms.
The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/UGOggq ) Darrell Anthony Smith had been arrested Aug. 18, 2011, after a couple told Gulfport police they had found a camera hidden in a tissue box above the toilet in the bathroom of Smith's home.
Police discovered Smith also hid the camera in men's bathrooms at two restaurants and a gas station, and downloaded the pictures to his computer.
Assistant District Attorney Scott Lusk said Wednesday police were able to identify and notify most of those photographed.
Smith pleaded guilty to a type of voyeurism -- photographing and videotaping others in violation of their expectation of privacy.
