Memphis City Schools Board member Rev. Kenneth Whalum wants answers. He's filed another lawsuit asking the Shelby County Election Commission for documentation regarding errors made in the Aug. 2 primary election.

It comes two days after the State of Tennessee Comptroller's office released its audit of the election commission.

Whalum addressed two items at his press conference Thursday afternoon. The first was the lawsuit against the election commission demanding documents from them. The other was his response to the comptroller's audit.

Rev. Whalum says the most incriminatory evidence in the audit says that the election commission's primary responsibility is to conduct elections, but that they have not been able to do so without significant inaccuracies.

While the audit says they found no "intentional mistakes," Whalum's recent filing says the election commission is concealing the mistakes made in the recent election.

He says the commission is "stonewalling" his litigation and is trying to "cook the books," even though the comptroller's office says they have made mistakes.

"The comptroller went out of his way to say, ‘we did not find any evidence of an intent to mess up.' Went out of their way to say it, but on the same page they say, ‘these errors messed up the election.'"

FOX13 News tried to contact the election commission, but directed us to their lawyers who are out of town until Monday.
