LONG BEACH, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality has reopened a section of the beach in Long Beach.
Monday, officials opened the beach from Oak Gardens to Girard because water samples showed that bacteria levels were acceptable.
The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/T0LktZ ) the beach was closed Aug. 31 because of Hurricane Isaac.
