A 19-year-old man has been charged with making threats in an online chat room to destroy Oxford High School.
U.S. Attorney Felicia C. Adams says in a news release that Joshua Brandon Pillault of Oxford was being held in custody pending a preliminary hearing and detention hearing scheduled for Thursday in federal in Greenville.
Adams says Pillault was charged Tuesday in a criminal complaint with transmitting in interstate and foreign commerce a communication containing threats to kill and injure the person of another.
Pillault is also charged with willfully making threats through the use of an instrument of interstate and foreign commerce to kill and injure individuals and damage and destroy buildings by means of explosives.
If convicted on these charges, Pillault faces maximum possibilities of 15 years imprisonment.
