2 Miss. school districts compete for federal grant

CORINTH, Miss. (AP) - The Corinth and South Panola school districts plan a joint application for federal grant money.

The Corinth district hopes to win $10 million to $20 million over four years from the Race to the Top program, the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports. (http://bit.ly/RoLR9V)

The grant would pay for tablet computers in grades four through 12, create one-stop centers for families, and stress teacher development by linking teachers to their peers overseas and creating a distance learning center. The program would also expand an international curriculum to some schools and introduce college and career readiness programs

The districts should find out in December if they won.
