MOSS POINT, Miss. (AP) - Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd says officers arrested eight people during a raid on a Moss Point home suspected of being a gambling house.
Byrd tells The Sun Herald (http://bit.ly/VlvXxE ) Sunday's gambling sting was a joint operation of the Narcotics Task Force of Jackson County and the sheriff's criminal investigation division, K-9 division and patrol deputies, which also netted four other arrests.
He says about 10 officers raided the house.
Byrd said the people arrested were placing football bets shortly before the Sunday football games kicked off.
During the operation, the sheriff says $2,196 was seized along with a variety of drugs and gambling paraphernalia.
