Ocean Springs looks to lease old fire station

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (AP) - Ocean Springs is in preliminary discussions to lease a former fire station to Acadian Ambulance Service.

The Ocean Springs Fire Department vacated the station about a year ago in advance of the opening of the new Public Safety Complex on U.S. Highway 90.

Fire Chief Jeff Ponson tells The Mississippi Press (http://bit.ly/RliZ3c ) the vacant building is being used for storage and training.

Ponson says any revenues generated from such a lease would go into cash-strapped Ocean Springs' general fund, with some possibly diverted back to the fire department.
