MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

It's drug free school week at Bolivar Central High School, but one teacher didn't get the message. 23-year-old Braden Kessler faces charges including DUI and Intent to Sell Prescription Drugs. He was booked earlier this week.

Mac Clark says his tenth grade Bolivar Central High School student first alerted him about Kessler's behavior.

"That was disturbing to me. Very, very, very disturbing," he says.

According to the police report, officers first pulled over Kessler for a blown out tire.  But, then they noticed glossy eyes and smelled alcohol. Kessler denied drinking several times, but eventually fessed up. Inside his car, officers say they found several items including 38 small blue pills.

Kessler just started working at the school several weeks ago. Now, he's suspended without pay pending the outcome of the investigation.

Kessler is the son of the school's former principal and taught computer technology. The school system says he had no previous criminal charges.

"Even though it was off premise, off duty, being a teacher you have to set an example, and it's a tough job I understand, but when you take that role have to play it inside and out," says Clark.

Kessler's court date is set for October 30.
