TRUMANN, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas Game and Fish Commission officials say St. Francis Lake is being drawn down so crews can make emergency repairs to an eroded area near the dam.
The lake is near Trumann in Poinsett County.
The Game and Fish Commission says erosion has occurred near the Payneway dam and the washout is allowing water to go around the structure.
Officials say drawdown of the lake began last Thursday and will continue until the repairs are complete. Officials say the repair site is to the east of the dam.
Game and Fish Commission officials passed an order for $138,500 to repair the area. A contractor has started on the repair work and is expected to finish up in December as long as the weather cooperates.
