A group of nearly three dozen MLGW employees and vehicles from Memphis are traveling to Long Island in New York to help in reconnecting power to 650,000 residents in the wake of Superstorm Sandy.
The crew of 33 left during the noon hour Friday and will travel through the weekend to get to Long Island where they will be assisting the Long Island Power Authority to restore power.
The crew will in charge of making significant repairs to the power grid.
They are expecting to be in the Long Island area of New York for at least two weeks.
