NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -

Election officials say long lines at some polling locations in Tennessee could delay voting results.

All polls were scheduled to close at 8 p.m. Eastern and 7 p.m. Central, but any voters still in line at those times were being allowed to go into the polling booths.

Elections Division spokesman Blake Fontenay said his office was told before polls closed that there were still people in line to vote in the state's largest counties - Shelby, Davidson and Knox.

The Tuesday election included the presidential race, one U.S. Senate seat, all nine U.S. House contests, the entire state House and half of the state Senate.

More than 1.4 million Tennessee voters cast ballots during early voting.
