Memphis City Schools Helps Jumpstart Read for the Record
Memphis
City Schools' participation in Jumpstart's 2012 Read for the Record
kick-off campaign was recorded at 23,596 students. On October 4, 2012,
these students, along with participants from across the county, came together
to read the children's book Ladybug Girl and the Bug Squad, by David Soman and
Jacky Davis. Read for the Record celebrates literacy and supports
Jumpstart in its efforts to promote early childhood education. This
year's campaign was a record-breaking kick-off to Jumpstart's year-long early
education programs.
Thanks
to Memphis City Schools students and to the fine work of MCS Library
Coordinator Margaret Montgomery and her staff, Jumpstart set a new world
reading record!
