Grizz win streak gets businesses on creative streak
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -
The Memphis Grizzlies are two and a half weeks into the season, but you'd think it's the championships with all the playoff-like deals local businesses are running.
"We do 20 percent off food if you're going to the game and have tickets. We also have $3 Grizz Shots that are really popular before and after the game," says Ed Cabigao, owner of South of Beale.
The Grizzlies' string of victories is bringing the community and businesses together, especially on game night.
"Having people cheer and come together, it's an incredible feeling," says Colin Bergstron, owner of The Blind Bear.
The "speakeasy" lets their happy hour specials go throughout the Grizz game. During Friday's game against the Knicks, Bergstron says their happy hour ended at 8 p.m. but they let it go until the 8:30-starting game was over, "It was definitely worth it. We had a full house and everyone enjoyed watching the game."
With the winning streak the Grizzlies are on now, the highest NBA record with 8-and-1, who knows what kind of hype the Grit and Grind will generate by playoff season.
"We're definitely always trying to think of new things to do," says Cabigao.
