Three baby boys: Owen, Carter and Jacob. Each of them blessings.

The trio was born in October, about 10 weeks before their due date.

Today they're healthy and thriving, almost ready to go home thanks to Methodist Germantown neonatal intensive care unit and their mother and fathers constant love, prayers daily visits and devotion.

For the first time in years premature births are down in Tennessee, but those numbers could be better.

Valencia Taylor from the March of Dimes says premature births is a multi-dimensional problem with more than one solution - the end game, healthy pregnancies and healthy babies.

Dr. Tom Gray, a staff OB/GYN at Methodist Germantown, says treating pre-term labor is much easier to prevent than treat once a mother goes into labor before 37 weeks.

The key to prevention: good nutrition, controlling preexisting conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure, and avoiding smoking, alcohol and drugs.

Another important component to prenatal care, frequent doctor's visits over the 40-week pregnancy.

Taylor also adds it's important not to rush the birthing process. He notes, its best to wait until at least 39 weeks.

The triplets are home just in time for Thanksgiving, certainly something for this young family to be thankful for.
