Monday morning the Porter-Leath toy drive kicked off in East Memphis.
The goal is to fill up the toy truck to a lot of Mid-South children can have another big Christmas.
"We got about 8,000 children that need some sort of holiday experience, and so our goal is to make sure everyone of our children in one of our many programs gets something for Christmas," said Mike Warr of Porter-Leath. "From infants up to teenagers, but most of our kids are under age 5. So we got Head Start kids, pre-school kids, we have visitation kids. So these kids enjoy gifts that are like for toddlers toy trucks."
You can drop[off off a brand new bicycle or one or you can drop off a cash donation.
"For older kids they like electronics, make-up for girls," Warr said. "We do have girls and always games for young kids. Give instruction games to learn motor skills."
Make sure the gifts are in the original packaging.
"It has to be brand new," Warr said. "Cannot be wrapped. So just bring it just like it is, in the bag from the store and we'll take it from there."
You can take it from the man himself, Bud Davis, who helps put on this toy drive every year. The givers are the real winners.
"You never stand as tall as when you help a child," Davis said. "Bring a toy, or something they can have for Christmas."
Donations are being accepted through Nov. 30 at Bud Davis Cadillac on poplar Avenue, from 6 a.m. - 7 p.m.
