Ole Miss freshman and Air Force ROTC cadet Jamal Woods, representatives with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and the Rainbow Push Coalition met with University Chancellor Dan Jones in the very same place James Meredith enrolled in 1962.

After a two hour meeting in the Lyceum Building, both sides came out saying it was a positive meeting.

"Yes it was very positive we were able to discuss things in regards to Jamal woods, and as Dr. Lasimba Gray said make him whole, this is something that we were very concerned about."

By law the University of Mississippi cannot write Woods a check for the damages to his truck, but that doesn't mean an alumni group can't do anything.

That is exactly what is going to happen.

"There are some alumni and students that are interested and willing to do anything for the happiness and well being of this student at the University," said David Cole, University of Mississippi Office of Multi-Cultural Affairs. "They have indicated that they want to do something and do whatever it takes to make sure he is comfortable here."

At this point the only question remaining is will Jamal Woods choose to stay at the University of Mississippi. Woods is at this time not sure, he has not made a final decision.
