Before Monday night's Grizzlies' victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, fans who attended the game at the FedExForum had to go through a new NBA security measure.
The National Basketball Association says everyone must be wanded with hand-held metal detectors upon entering an arena.
NBA fans going to Grizzlies games should expect a 20-minute wait to be wanded before entering a game.
"You can anticipate there will be some back up, especially as folks get used to the process," said Eric Granger, FedExForum Vice President of Arena Operations. "It's about a 20-minute wait typically, so leave your house 20 minutes earlier than you normally do."
Only half of the games played between now and the All-Star break in February will apply this new rule. And after that, every single fan going any future Grizzlies or NBA game will be wanded before going through the gates.
The FedExforum plans to wand fans again on Wednesday before the Toronto Raptors game and Friday's game against the Detroit Pistons.
The NBA, which made the change to its security procedures during the past offseason, stress the changes are not part of any specific threat.
