MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

Police are searching for a man who allegedly attempted to kidnap a 13-year-old girl Thursday morning.

She was walking southbound of Castlemand near Teal at around  7 a.m. when a black male approached her in a burgundy vehicle. The victim told police the suspect grabbed her but that she was able to get away. 

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Karen Rudolph said the suspect left in an unknown direction. Several cars checked the Parkway Village area for the suspect but could not locate him.

The suspect is described as a black male in his late 30s or early 40s, between 5-foot-10 and 5-foot-11 in height with a muscular build. The suspect was wearing a blue and white baseball cap, a red jersey with an unknown number, blue jeans, and white tennis shoes.

No arrest has been made.
