A Memphis police bomb squad secured and destroyed what was first described as a possible pipe bomb that was found late Friday morning at an apartment on Felix Avenue in Midtown Memphis.
The device, latter described as a misunderstanding, was destroyed at the police department's training facility after a robot was used to remove it.
According to law enforcement, a rental agency was inspecting an apartment in the Cooper-Young district of Memphis when they spotted an item they thought was a pipe bomb.
Police blocked off the neighborhood around Felix Street and South McLean while the bomb squad investigated and secured the possible pipe bomb.
Federal agents were even called to investigate.
