Williams appeals murder conviction

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A Gulfport woman sentenced to life in prison in a fatal shooting that authorities described as a love triangle has appealed her case to the Mississippi Supreme Court.

The appeal from Twonia Renee Williams is among dozens the Supreme Court will take up in its January-February term. The court had not scheduled the case for oral arguments.

Williams was convicted of murder in 2012 in Harrison County in the 2009 shooting death of 2009 shooting of Katrina Sargent.

Authorities say Sargent, the mother of 3, was killed outside her home in North Gulfport home on Dec. 5, 2009.

Prosecutors say Williams shot and killed Sargent in a dispute over a man.
