MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

Beale Street is just one of many places to be Monday evening around Memphis and the Mid-South for New Year's Eve as the region says goodbye to 2012 and rings in 2013.

The highlight will be the annual guitar drop outside the Hard Rock Cafe, filled with live music and fireworks.

Thirteen live acts will perform along Beale Street New Year's Eve.

If you are considering joining in on Monday's festivities along Beale Street, be prepared for extra security.

"For any busy weekend on the street for us down here we'll have a large contingent of security officers IDing patrons that come on the street," said Jon Shivers, event director for Performa. "There are also going to be a large contingents of police officers and sheriff's department down here as well."

Beale Street is also celebrating two milestones New Year's Eve - the 30th anniversary of the street's rebirth and the fifth anniversary of the guitar drop.

Other New Year's Eve hot spots include The New Daisy Theatre, The Peabody Hotel, Celtic Crossing in Cooper-Young, The Blue Monkey and The Hi-Tone in Midtown. There's live music at each spot and there's a cover to get in. Most of the celebrations kick off around 9 p.m.
