WASHINGTON, D.C. -

U.S. Congressman Steve Cohen (D-Tenn) said St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis has been awarded $306,250 for allergy, immunology and transplantation research from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services through the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).

"St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is one of the best hospitals in the country when it comes to research and treatment," said Congressman Cohen. "I'm a lifelong supporter of St. Jude and believe in their doctors, scientists and researchers.  This new funding will allow St. Jude to continue the important research and medical work they do on a daily basis."

NIAID conducts and supports basic and applied research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases. For more than 60 years, NIAID research has led to new therapies, vaccines, diagnostic tests, and other technologies that have improved the health.
