A 3-year-old in a red wagon rolled down a driveway and under the rear of a school bus in South Memphis Thursday afternoon, police said.
The accident happened in a residential neighborhood at Carlton and Keen roads after 3 p.m.
The toddler was taken to LeBoneur Children's Hospital near downtown.
Police say the child was transferred to the hospital initially in critical condition but has since been upgraded to non-critical.
The school bus is from Durham Transportation, which is sub-contracted from Memphis City Schools, school district spokesperson said. It was shuttling children from The Shrine School.
According to police, the mother of the injured child came out of her house to pick up her other child, who was returning home from school. The 3-year-old was with the mother at the top of the driveway in a red wagon.
The wagon with the child in it rolled down the driveway and underneath the back of the bus.
