Memphis police are searching for the person or persons who fatally shot a 62-year-old woman in a residential driveway Friday morning.

Officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of Burnham Cove in Frayser at 9 a.m.

The victim, found lying on the ground next to her vehicle, was pronounced deceased by police.

A neighbor told FOX13 News he heard one gunshot and when he walked outside the investigate the neighbor saw the woman lying on the driveway next to a car.

The house where the victim was found fatally shot is for sale, but neighbors didn't recognize the woman.

The female victim was unloading groceries from her car when someone shot her, police spokeswoman Sgt. Karen Rudolph said.

The unknown suspect shot her with a stray bullet but police said she was not the target of the shooting.

Homicide investigators have no suspects.
