BILOXI, Miss. (AP) - Bill Walker has been dismissed as the executive director of the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources.
The decision same Tuesday in a unanimous vote from members of the Commission on Marine Resources.
The dismissal was first reported by WLOX-TV in Biloxi (http://bit.ly/RXCl1l ).
Federal investigators are looking into allegations of misspending and favoritism at the Department of Marine Resources, the agency run by Walker. He had been suspended without pay indefinitely while the investigation proceeded.
CMR Chairman Dr. Vernon Asper says the commission put its total trust in a person and was let down by that individual.
