Gautier approves $10K for new task force

GAUTIER, Miss. (AP) - The Gautier City Council has approved $10,000 of drug forfeiture money seized by the Gautier Police Department to go toward funding the South Mississippi Metro Enforcement Team.

The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/ZWt5JX ) it is the new narcotics task force that developed as a result of a shooting at the now-defunct Jackson County Narcotics Task Force in July, in which an agent was injured.

Because of the way the shooting was handled, Moss Point, Ocean Springs, Gautier and Pascagoula pulled out of the task force and formed their own.
