PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) - PASCAGOULA -- The restoration project for Pascagoula's historic Round Island Lighthouse is moving forward, but needs $350,000 more to be completed.
Community and economic development director Jen Dearman tells The Sun Herald (http://bit.ly/WIP9FB) a significant amount of work has been done, but the department is asking residents to get more involved.
The City Council approved a Tidelands grant agreement Tuesday. Dearman says the grant authorizes $129,480 to the lighthouse and $21,580 to the environmental education trail for Lighthouse Park.
The council also approved a request for some of the grant funding to be reallocated from landscaping for the park project to the lighthouse restoration.
