MCS starts school, then dismisses class due to ice
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -
We knew as early as Monday evening more ice would be moving into the Mid-South on Tuesday.
In preparation, Shelby County Schools announced early Tuesday morning it would dismiss students early.
But Memphis City Schools took a little longer to make that decision, which is not always an easy decision.
The most important thing is keeping the kids safe. In this case, MCS parents felt the school district did that; they just wish the district would have made the call a little earlier.
The region could be in the same situation Wednesday, depending on how bad the ice is.
Pertaining to Wednesday, Memphis City Schools said parents would be notified if the school district closes Jan. 16.
"If there is a decision to close schools Wednesday, parents will be notified immediately. At this time, no decision has been reached," a district spokesperson said.
