The Madison County Sheriff's Office is continuing the investigation into the home invasion/aggravated robbery that occurred shortly before midnight on January 15, 2013, in the 500 block of Old Denmark Road, Jackson, TN.
The investigation revealed that the victim, Marshall Hoggard, heard a knock at his door. While Mr. Hoggard was unlocking the door, three (3) white males wearing scarf's over their faces kicked open the door, striking him in the head. The three suspects began shouting at Mr. Hoggard asking where he kept his morphine. The suspects took the victim's medication and a small caliber handgun.
The victim's brother, Everett Gilreath, heard the yelling and came from the back bedroom. One of the suspects yelled at Mr. Gilreath to get back. The suspect then fired a shot from the victim's handgun into the floor. The suspects grabbed a laptop and ran from the residence into the woods.
John Tyler Dotson, age 24, of 57 Springtime Cove, Jackson, TN, was formally charged with Aggravated Burglary, Aggravated Robbery, Reckless Endangerment (Felony), Theft of Property and Possession of Schedule II with Intent to Resale. His arraignment has been scheduled for January 18, 2013, at 8:00 a.m. in General Sessions Court, Division I.
There are two (2) suspects still at-large. Anyone with information is asked to call the Madison County Sheriff's Office Violent Crimes Unit at 731/423-6000 or Crime Stoppers 731/424-8477. The Metro-Narcotics Division are assisting in this investigation.
