Two Westwood High School students were shot Friday afternoon at the Westwood Community Center, police and Memphis City Schools officials said.
One of the injured is a 15-year-old student a Memphis City Schools spokesperson said. The teen was shot in the abdomen. He was reportedly alert but in critical condition and taken to The MED.
The second Westwood student, age 17, was shot twice in the chest and back, was initially transported to Methodist South Hospital by a private vehicle. The 17-year-old was then taken by air ambulance to The MED and is also listed in critical condition, police spokeswoman Sgt. Karen Rudolph said.
The incident, which took place at 810 Western Park Dr. at around 2:25 p.m., remains under investigation.
Though police are reportedly searching for three suspects - two of the suspects are suspended students and the other suspect is not in school - Lt. Col. Lawrence Jamison told FOX13 News police have detained several people but would not elaborate further.
Lt. Col. Jamison added they have identified a person of interest and are canvassing the city for the suspect.
