Memphis police have identified, arrested, and charged a teenager who allegedly shot and injured two Westwood High School students Jan. 25 outside of the Westwood Community Center.
After a thorough investigation, felony assault investigators have charged 18-year-old Phillip Lipsey, also know as "Nu Nu," with two counts of aggravated assault. He was identified during a suspect line-up over the weekend.
According to police the two high school students, ages 15 and 17, were in the parking lot of the Westwood Community Center when they got into an argument with another group of males. The argument escalated to a fight and both victims were shot.
The 15-year-old was shot in the abdomen. He was treated for his wound at The MED and released, police said. The second Westwood student, age 17, was shot twice in the chest and back, was initially transported to Methodist South Hospital by a private vehicle. The 17-year-old was then taken by air ambulance to The MED. The second injured student remains in the hospital in critical condition.
