Andrew Fleming of Germantown, a devout St. Louis Cardinals fan, is one step closer to living in the Big Apple and watching baseball all day.
He hopes to win a Major League Baseball competition know as the Fan Cave.
Fleming loves baseball and when the chance to watch all 2,430 games was put in front of him, he jumped at the opportunity.
"'MLB Fan Cave' lets fans create videos to become a finalists to go live in New York all summer and blog, tweet and make funny videos with players celebrities and fans that come to the 'MLB Fan Cave,'" Fleming said.
His video has been placed in the Top 50 campaigning against 49 other hardcore MLB superfans.
"I'm a huge baseball fan," he said. "I love tweeting. I blog a little big and I like making videos. I thought, hey it would be silly for me not to try this."
Fleming has made the Top 50 thanks to his video entry that, when stacked up against the competition, is pretty impressive. He does work for a production company in Memphis. Thanks to his bosses and co-workers who helped him out, he was able to put together a polished video clip that shows his lighter side when dealing with his Cardinals and baseball obsession.
"I wanted to interview myself and show that I can be good on camera and make fun of myself," he said. "I don't really take myself too seriously and I wanted to show that."
Fleming's awesome video isn't enough by itself to advance. He needs the help from the Mid-South community.
"You can go to my website, TheFlilmJerk.com or my Twitter (TheFilmJerk) and vote as many times as you want on my video," he said. "MLB next Wednesday (Feb. 13), they will take the final count and hopefully I will make the Top 30 and go to spring training."
Fleming is the only Memphian remaining in the competition.
