A man in his 40s sitting in his car died Thursday evening after being shot repeatedly, a Shelby County Sheriff spokesman said.

The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the shooting in the 4200 block of Kings Valley Road in Raleigh.

Sheriff deputies and first responders were dispatched to the shooting just after 9 p.m.

A male suspect who is allegedly responsible for the shooting was taken into custody.

Witnesses said an argument took place before the alleged shooter fatally shot the man.

The incident remains under investigation.
