LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Former Gov. Jim Guy Tucker is donating his personal and professional papers to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
UALR announced the donation Monday - saying it now has the papers of 6 former Arkansas governors -including the gubernatorial papers of former President Bill Clinton.
Tucker also served as lieutenant governor, attorney general and as a congressman. He lost races for the Democratic nomination to the U.S. Senate in 1978 and for governor in 1982.
Tucker was lieutenant governor - and became governor - when then-Gov. Clinton was elected President.
Tucker eventually won election on his own as governor - but resigned after being convicted in 1996 in the Whitewater investigation.
UALR also has the papers of former Govs. Carl Bailey, Winthrop Rockefeller, Dale Bumpers, and Frank White.
