FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) - An Oklahoma judge has ordered a mental evaluation for 1 of 2 brothers charged in the murder of a Fort Smith woman.
A judge in Leflore County on Tuesday ordered the evaluation for Elvis Thacker, who is charged with first-degree murder with his brother Jonathen Thacker.
Prosecutors have charged the men with first-degree murder in the September 2010 death of 22-year-old Briana Ault, who was discovered in a pond near a Pocola cemetery.
Fort Smith television station KHBS reports (http://is.gd/xUOqzZ ) that proceedings in the case have been halted until Elvis Thacker's mental evaluation is complete.
In Arkansas, the brothers have been convicted of rape and kidnapping in a separate case, as well as attempted murder of a police officer.
