According
to a British pork farming group, we could be in for a worldwide shortage of
bacon and BBQ because of the drought. In a city where
an entire week is dedicated to cooking BBQ, you can imagine what kind of news a
pork shortage might have on the general populace.
"It's a very important part
of my life," says Memphian Mark Glenn who claims he'll pay more if there is a
shortage.
Fortunately for the pork lovers of the Mid-South, the purveyors of
pork are just as dedicated to keeping pork on a fork.
"Central goes through a tremendous amount of pork…and no
matter the cost the price we will go find it for our people. We love our people,"
says Nicolas Brooks with Central BBQ.
The
pork shortage is expected to hit in 2013 with supply at its lowest since 1975.
