Diamondhead's 1st birthday nears

DIAMONDHEAD, Miss. (AP) - Diamondhead will turn a year old this month.

Incorporation papers were signed Jan. 30, 2012, though the city's first mayor and council weren't sworn in until a week later. Officials will be in Jackson for the Mississippi Municipal League Mid-Winter Conference on the anniversary, so they plan to celebrate at a public party

Texans to be sentenced in Miss. robbery

GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - A mother and daughter from Cleveland, Texas, are set for sentencing in a Gulfport, Miss., bank robbery.

U.S. District Judge Walter J. Gex III will sentence 58-year-old Evie Mearlene Herrin and 30-year-old Amelia Darci Crew on Monday.

They face up to 25 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for the March 26 holdup of a Regions

Open forums held for UTC chancellor candidates

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - Faculty, students and the public will have the chance to ask questions of the five finalists vying to become the next University of Tennessee at Chattanooga chancellor during open forums this month.
