Some of Memphis' gospel powerhouses united Friday evening For a free concert  to benefit the children of slain police officer Martoiya Lang, who died in the line of duty Dec. 14.

The benefit was hosted by Courtney Franklin, and held at New Hope Baptist Church.

Many made donations for Lang's four daughters, ages 14,

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

An estimated 30,000 Tennesseans will see an immediate stop in assistance per the The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development. 

On January 2, 2013 those receiving federally extended unemployment insurance will see an abrupt stop due to the program expiring.

Family keeps quiet on health of George H.W. Bush

HOUSTON (AP) - The Bush family is keeping quiet on former President George H.W. Bush's condition.

The 88-year-old former president has been hospitalized since Nov. 23, first for a bronchitis-related cough and more recently with a lingering fever.
