Murder trial scheduled in Lee County

TUPELO, Miss. (AP) - A Tupelo man is scheduled for trial on Feb. 5 in Lee County in the 2011 fatal shooting of 2 people.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (http://bit.ly/TJheBE) that 27-year-old Travon Brown is charged with two counts of murder.

Wake planned Monday in Miss. for 5 crash victims

PHILADELPHIA, Miss. (AP) - A wake is planned Monday for five young siblings who died when a sport utility vehicle driven by their father careened off an eastern Mississippi road and into a creek.

The wake is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. at the Pearl River Facility Building in Choctaw. Their funeral is scheduled for Wednesday at the same location.
