2 teens charged in Garland Co. livestock deaths

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - Prosecutors have filed misdemeanor charges against two teenagers accused of killing two horses, a donkey and a cow.

The juveniles were charged last week with misdemeanor animal cruelty. The Sentinel-Record reports (http://is.gd/4l2abL ) that a Pearcy man filed a complaint with sheriff's investigators on Oct. 8, saying that

UT students study radiation in downtown Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A white pickup truck with government tags trailing nuclear testing devices and a weather vane has drawn the attention of Knoxville residents recently.

But the Knoxville News Sentinel reports (http://bit.ly/QJJGhK) it is only students conducting research.

The students are monitoring ambient radiation in downtown Knoxville.

Court reinstates Stone Co. rape conviction

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Supreme Court has reinstated the conviction and 35-year sentence in a Stone County rape case.

The state Court of Appeals last November ordered a new trial for Anthony Mercie Expose. Expose had been convicted of rape in 2010.

Sex offender sentenced for not registering in Neb.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - A 30-year-old man who had been living in the south-central Nebraska city of Cozad has been sentenced for failing to register in Nebraska as a sex offender.

Lexington radio station KRVN reports (http://bit.ly/S0KIFi) that Shawn Cryts was given 16 months in prison on Thursday. He must also serve five years of supervised release

Man pleads guilty in pain pill case

GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - Federal court records say a man has pleaded guilty in a south Mississippi pain pill investigation.

Authorities say Charles MacGeorge and a woman were arrested Dec. 1, 2010, in their hotel room at the Hard Rock Casino in Biloxi with some 374 pain pills.

MacGeorge pleaded guilty Thursday to narcotics racketeering in U.S.
