A 33-year-old Memphis man accused of killing his wife and dumping her body off a bridge has plead not guilty in court Monday to charges of first degree murder and false reporting, and is being held in jail without bond until his next appearance Nov. 7.

A 25-year-old man is facing a DUI charge amid other charges after he allegedly left the scene of an accident of a deadly hit and run on Poplar Avenue and I-240 in east Memphis.

Police also charged Jose Valle with driving without a license after he drove his Chevrolet Impala into another car at around 3 a.m. Sunday.

Woman drowns trying to save dog in Garland Co.

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - The Garland County Sheriff's Office says a woman has drowned while trying to save her dog from a stream that runs off Lake Ouachita west of Hot Springs.

UNDATED (AP) -

An outbreak of fungal meningitis linked to steroid shots for back pain is now blamed for 284 illnesses in 16 states.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say 23 people have now died.

The medication, made by a specialty pharmacy in Massachusetts, has been recalled.
