MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

An interim president has been selected, as the University of Memphis prepares for a nationwide search.

Brad Martin will serve as the interim president beginning July 1. He is a former Saks CEO, University of Memphis alumnus, and a huge booster for the university.

DALLAS (AP) -- Pat Summerall, the NFL player-turned-broadcaster whose deep, resonate voice called games for more than 40 years, has died at the age of 82.
 
Fox Sports spokesman Dan Bell said Tuesday that Summerall had died. He could not immediately provide further details.

TN House OKs bill to let cities form school systems
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (FOX13) -

A measure that would clear the way for Tennessee cities to begin forming municipal school systems passed Monday the Tennessee House in Nashville.

The measure passed earlier in the Senate and is now headed to Gov. Jim Haslam for his signature.

Memphis runners witness Boston marathon explosion

Several dozen runners from the Mid-South were in Boston for the marathon and some were close when the bombs exploded.

Marathoner Angie Zinkus made it back to Memphis Monday night. She was in a cab headed to Logan Airport when it happened.
