Disney legend Annette Funicello has died

NEW YORK (AP) - Annette Funicello, the most popular Mouseketeer on "The Mickey Mouse Club," who matured to a successful career in records and '60s beach party movies but struggled with illness in middle age and after, died Monday, The Walt Disney Co. said. She was 70.

The FOX13 family would like to take a moment to remember local meteorologist Mark Walden.

WPTY Channel 24 ABC affiliate shared the news early Sunday morning of Walden's passing.  They say he died of natural causes at his home over the weekend.

He leaves behind a young son, a stepdaughter and his wife.

Control tower closings delayed until June
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

The closings of control towers at 149 small airports across the country are being delayed until mid-June.

The first twenty-four (24) closures had been scheduled for Sunday.  The delay will give the Federal Aviation Administration time to face a number of legal battles from airports.
