Driver escapes serious injury when train hits car

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A train hit a car at a Knoxville grade crossing, but knocked it clear and the driver wasn't seriously hurt.

WBIR-TV (http://on.wbir.com/WIqnpr ) reported the incident occurred early Tuesday in the western part of the city when a Norfolk Southern train struck a Honda Accord.

More than 500 students get day off, flooded school

GLEASON, Tenn. (AP) - Some West Tennessee public school students have an unexpected day off from classes because of a water problem.

Biloxi-bound jet seized after legal dispute

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Dozens of passengers headed to a casino in Biloxi, Miss., were out of luck after their jet was pulled off the runway because of a legal dispute.

The 130 passengers were scheduled to travel from St. Petersburg-Clearwater Airport on Monday to Gulfport, Miss., for a 3-day and four-night trip at the Beau Rivage Casino.

Storm system predicted to dump rain on Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The National Weather Service says a storm system moving through the state is expected to drop 2 to 4 inches of rain in parts of Arkansas.

The weather service says the system will move into southern Arkansas on Tuesday afternoon and will gradually expand across the area in the evening and overnight hours.
