2012 warmest year on record in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - The year just ended was the warmest on record in Memphis.

National Weather Service meteorologist Marlene Mickelson told The Commercial Appeal (http://bit.ly/ZdorLN ) the average temperature in the city during 2012 was 66 degrees. That compares with the previous mark of 65.6 degrees, set in 2007.

Little Rock Skippy plant part of sale to Hormel

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Unilever is selling its Skippy peanut butter business to Hormel Foods for $700 million, including its plant in Little Rock.

The deal announced Thursday involves two peanut butter manufacturing facilities - the one in Little Rock and one in China's Shandong province.

Corinth officials OK liquor ordinance

CORINTH, Miss. (AP) - The Corinth Board of Aldermen has approved an ordinance governing the sale of liquor inside the city.

Corinth voters approved the sale of alcoholic beverages in a Dec. 11 special elections.

Jonesboro's Turtle Creek Mall sells for $96M

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - A New York-based real estate investment firm is buying the Mall at Turtle Creek in Jonesboro for $96 million.

Rouse Properties Inc. closed Wednesday on the purchase from a private partnership led by David Hocker. The purchase also includes an adjacent shopping center, Turtle Creek Crossing.
