Permits sought to study putting turbines in river

NATCHEZ, Miss. (AP) - A company continues to study the feasibility of putting power-generating turbines in the Mississippi River.

Free Flow Power, a Boston-based company, has filed an application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for a preliminary permit to study the feasibility of a hydropower project near Concordia Parish, La.

Little Rock police investigate fatal shooting

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Little Rock police are investigating the shooting death of a man found in a car early Thursday.

Police say officers responded to a call of shots fired at about 4:15 a.m. Thursday. Police say the man was found inside a black 1986 Oldsmobile at the intersection of 11th Street and Fair Park Boulevard.

Memorial service set Friday for NO officer

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A memorial service is scheduled Friday for a veteran New Orleans police officer killed in a car wreck in Hattiesburg, Miss.

The service for Lt. Chris Cambiotti will be held at St. Louis Cathedral from 10 a.m. to noon. A funeral Mass will immediately follow.

Ocean Springs looks to lease old fire station

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (AP) - Ocean Springs is in preliminary discussions to lease a former fire station to Acadian Ambulance Service.
