NEW YORK (AP) - Two major airports reopened and the floor of the New York Stock Exchange came back to life Wednesday, but across the river in New Jersey, the National Guard searched for flood victims and fires still raged two days after Superstorm Sandy.

Justices hear arguments over police dog use

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Supreme Court is going to the dogs on Halloween.

Justices return to work on Wednesday by hearing arguments in a couple of cases dealing with police dogs and their use in criminal cases in Florida.

NYPD videos show rooftop rescues of storm victims

NEW YORK (AP) - The NYPD has released video of four rooftop rescues on Staten Island where some residents were trapped due to rising waters.

In one video an officer is lowered on a line to a rooftop where a person is lying. The officer huddles over the victim, who eventually sits up. A basket is lowered and the person is pulled up to the helicopter.

Guard evacuating people, taking in food to NJ city

HOBOKEN, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey National Guard trucks are delivering ready-to-eat meals and evacuating the city of Hoboken.

About half the city remains flooded two days after superstorm Sandy struck. Thousands are still holed up in their brownstones, condos, and other housing.

The mile-square city is across the Hudson River from New York.

Wall Street reopens after being shut for two days

NEW YORK (AP) - Wall Street is getting back to work.

Trading resumed on the New York Stock Exchange Wednesday after being closed for two days because of Hurricane Sandy. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg ran the opening bell.

The exchange is running on backup generators since power is out in large parts of downtown Manhattan.
